Common Damages Siding Faces
Damage can vary depending on the type of material and the manufacturer of the product. Included are the most common types of issues homeowners face when deciding to file an insurance loss claim or are looking to repair their siding.
Chipping & Cracking
Hail damage, blunt force from sports equipment and rocks, invasive animals, and wind blown foliage and branches can create cracks, chips, and scuffs. Sometimes siding pieces can be replaced or painted, but hail damage can devastate the exterior beyond replacement.
Warping
When siding is improperly installed, it will begin to buckle and warp from its manufactured shape. When installed, there should be enough room for the siding to expand and contract to prevent this problem. Melting is a common problem faced for vinyl products when sunlight is reflected off windows and onto your vinyl siding, the intense magnified light will "warp" your siding when it is actually melting.
Fading
The sun is the main source of faded siding. Direct exposure will cause certain elevations of siding to fade faster than others if not addressed accordingly. This is not due to improper installation, all products will see fading over time, but some are more resistant to bleaching from UV rays.
